Inspects img attributes in detached HTML; pasted markup is never displayed or executed. Attribute presence does not establish whether the description is suitable.

How to use

Separate missing, empty and present alt attributes, then judge each image's purpose.

1

Paste the markup

Paste the HTML containing the images to inspect. This does not fetch a URL or scan the rendered page.

2

Check attribute presence

Review missing and empty values. A data-alt attribute is not an alt attribute.

3

Edit the source yourself

Write context-appropriate alternatives in your own editor. This tool does not suggest descriptions or export repaired HTML.

Limits and questions

Inputs are processed in your browser. Analytics and advertising can make separate network requests.

A result you can check

For <img src="a.png" data-alt="label">, expect Missing. For <img src="a.png" alt="">, expect an empty value requiring context review.

Before using the result

Use a full accessibility review for SVG, CSS backgrounds, accessible names, dynamic images and image links.

Frequently asked questions

Is empty alt always an error?
No. An image that is decorative in context can use alt="" without requiring an extra role attribute. Review its purpose, including whether it is a link or conveys information.
Does a Present result prove accessibility?
No. The alternative can be inaccurate, redundant or inappropriate. Evaluate the surrounding content and actual experience with assistive technology.
